It was the 'Big Bang' that created the world...of course it was! Explosive gasses do make a heck of a noise when it explodes. We do not really know how the Universe started. Science has vairios theories and who among us can argue with the Boffins? We must not expect that the writer of the first chapter of Genesis, whos ideas were those of two thousand years ago, thought any more scientifically about the origin of sun, moon, stars and of the earth itself, than did his contemporaries. He is content to think of some kind of chaos or disorder as the first stage. The interest at the time was not how this happened, there was the conviction that it did not happen accidently. The mystries of the world are still as obscure to us as to the first people who decided to study the universe. Because man is the dominent animal on earth, supreame power has always been sought by some. As well as power seekers and scietists came the Theologists and went about the business of spreading stories of the 'Great Creator' of all the universe. Now there are so many different religious organisations and sects, all prporting to represent the 'Great Creator.' The Hebrew concept of creation by devine command. The universe and all that it contains is because God said: "Let there be...." There are many belivers throughout the world after two thousand years of this 'Great Creator' and there are many who belive only the science. It is belived that the creation of the world was a product of God's imagination. From what I have read, the ancient Egyptians veiwed creation as an act of sexual self-abuse on the part of the Creator. How the Egyptians came to that conclusion is written in their anciant texts and at the time, they were the most advanced civilization in the known world. As just an ordinary run-of-the-mill Gay Christian, I have written about the 'Big Bang' theory here but I very rearly think about such things in my daily life. The things I think about in respect of all this is only the Spiritual side of the Creator and creation. One of our members on here '21st. Centuary Spirituality' will know what I mean by 'Spiritual.' I hope 21st. Centuary Spirituality can add to this Topic?

I think Genesis is more than 2,000 years old, otherwise you have it on the nail there, Burty.
